Ethical MArketing

Why Ethical Marketing

At Thalus, we prioritise the practice of honesty and transparency when marketing our products and communicating with our clients.

It is of great importance that all our marketing efforts and approaches provide genuine value to our clients.

The following policies portray Thalus’ dedication to ethical marketing in order to ensure that our products meet the highest ethical standards of our industry.

We Commit to Honesty in Marketing

We pledge to:

  • Never use deceitful marketing tactics for our own marketing campaigns, including the use of fake or manipulated reviews and endorsements;

  • Only use information in our marketing that are representative of Thalus’ impact and not present misleading data;

  • Describe Thalus’ products accurately by using appropriate terms and language to reflect them in a realistic manner.

We Commit to Rejecting Impact Washing

Impact washing tries to deflect attention away from the negative impact a company might have by highlighting and exaggerating a specific positive impact. The goal is to persuade the client that they are exclusively supporting a positive cause by consuming the company’s product.

We commit to reject the practice of impact washing.

We pledge that:

  • We will not inflate numbers, manipulate data, or deceive potential clients with information that isn’t reflective of overall outcomes of projects;

  • We only share stories and create impact initiatives that are centered around a meaningful purpose and not purely for marketing benefits;

  • Our operations and campaigns are completely honest and transparent regarding the social and environmental impacts of Thalus’ work;

  • We will analyse marketing and communication tactics to ensure that they don’t engage in impact-washing.

We Commit to Cultural Sensitivity in Campaigns

We focus on making educated decisions and on developing inclusive campaigns by avoiding insensitive marketing tactics.

We pledge to:

  • Develop campaigns that will not resort to the exploitation, appropriation or stereotyping of marginalized, underrepresented or historically oppressed groups;

  • Continue to educate our team in order to overcome ignorance and ensure awareness of cultural sensitivity and inclusiveness.

We Commit to Ethical Digital Advertising

The consumer becomes a highly valuable target through digital marketing, which is why a particular set of ethical policies needs to be crafted.

Companies such as Facebook, Instagram, etc. use advanced tracking technologies to gather information about online users. This is beneficial for the paying advertisers as they can reach their target audience more easily.

This practice can quickly affect users’ privacy which is why ethical policies become even more important.

We pledge to:

  • Not participate in false advertising;

  • Clearly specify if an advertisement was paid for in order to differentiate from an unbiased review;

  • Apply modal windows to improve the clients’ experience on the website.

We Commit to Permission-Based Email Marketing

If we use email marketing, we pledge to warrant the option to all recipients to provide permission to receive marketing messages from Thalus.

It is a priority to send out valuable and genuine content to the recipient (including blogs, videos, online resources, social media posts, etc.)

Thalus commits to being GDPR compliant.

We Commit to Update these Policies as the Industry Develops

Since technologies, used by marketers to reach and engage with audiences will continue to develop, the policies put in place ensure ethical marketing and will be updated accordingly.
